BOA
is a multi-disciplinary artist. She
is a furniture and interior designer, interiors
stylist, and former magazine creative director.
“I was an artist
before I could even write my name. Initially
my love for design and interiors; however,
was sparked by leafing through Architectural
Digest magazine with my father when I was
a child.”
She was born and raised in the U.S. Virgin
Islands and is heavily inspired by the lines
of the horizon spending hours staring at the
beach everyday. BOA studied visual communications
at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Not satisfied that it was her life’s
passion, she left art school before graduating
and experimented with various media for several
years. One six-year stint even included fashion
modeling.
In 1999 while working as a senior buyer for
a furniture and home accessories store, she
had the opportunity to design all the display
and shelving units for the small and innovative
new company. This allowed her to work outside
the boundaries of her position and contribute
creatively to every aspect of the store design.
When that company folded in 2001 she founded
Object Interiors-a full service interior design
company and produced her first furniture collection
two years later.
Her visual aesthetic is influenced by frequent
travel-to Asia and South America specifically.
After learning about the deforestation in
the Amazon and Indonesia (where
most teak wood originates) BOA has
committed herself to seeking out environmentally
sustainable building materials. She also incorporates
Black Hat Sect Feng Shui principles into her
interiors.
Her ultimate vision is to create furniture
and spaces that touch the spirit and create
visual harmony. |
